Pody is an iOS app that turns the day's news into a podcast you can listen to. It reads X, news sites and newsletters, then writes and voices a briefing of one, three or five minutes in the tone you pick. Free on the App Store, with in-app purchases.
For anyone who would rather hear what happened than scroll three apps to find out.
Pody reads X, the news sites and the newsletters you would never get through, then hands you the result as audio. Pick your topics, pick one voice or two, pick a tone, and a briefing of one, three or five minutes is ready before the kettle boils. It exists because scrolling three apps at 8am is a bad way to find out what happened.
Three model steps run per briefing. Retrieval and ranking decide what actually mattered in the last day across X, news sites and newsletters. A language model then writes the script to the chosen length and tone, which for the two-voice format means writing an actual conversation rather than splitting a monologue. Speech synthesis voices it. The whole chain has to finish in seconds, because nobody waits for a podcast to render at breakfast.
At a glance
Pody is an iOS news app that produces a spoken daily briefing. You choose the topics, the tone and the length; it handles the sourcing, the script and the voice, and the finished audio is ready in seconds.
One, three or five minutes. You pick the length before the briefing is generated, along with the tone and whether you want a single narrator or a two-voice conversation.
From X, news sites and newsletters, sourced in real time. A retrieval and ranking step decides what actually mattered in the last day before a single line of the script is written.
Four: Academic, Storyteller, Sarcastic and Skeptic. The tone changes how the script is written, not just how it is read, and it applies to both the single-narrator and two-voice formats.
Pody is free to download on the App Store and includes in-app purchases.
